Wide

Target Cardigan (on sale under $12!); Fair Trade Necklace (similar); Thrifted Lace Top (similar) and Pants (similar); Payless Wedges (similar at Target)

I`ve been a skinny pants devotee for the past few years, so I`ve totally forgotten how flattering a good wide legged pant can be with a pair of heels. My legs felt so long in these!

In completely unrelated news...are you guys as excited for the Olympics as I am? Seriously cannot wait. I`m not much of a sports fan, but something about the Olympics has always made me happy. My favorites are hockey, curling, speed skating and bobsledding.

Days Like This

striped top, olive pants, leopard flats
Thrifted Top and Pants; Walmart Flats; Cents of Style Necklace

I've seen quite a few versions of the striped top/olive pants combo floating around the internet as of late. I totally copied this one right off of Merrick. I think it's super cute, and am glad olive pants are having their day. Olive is such a great fall color.

Annnd that's about all I have to say about that. :-) Hope you're all having a lovely Thursday.

Perfect 10 Remix: #1

grey tee, olive pants, booties, patterned scarf grey tee, olive pants, booties, patterned scarf grey tee, olive pants, booties, patterned scarf
Thrifted Tee; Thrifted Pants; Vintage Scarf; Payless Booties

This outfit has been done before and I've always thought it a bit dull. I so often forget how simple changes like rolling my pants and adding a scarf can take things up a notch. Which is why I get really excited about remix challenges. Such a great opportunity to step back and reassess how you usually style certain pieces.

I'm also really excited to have finally discovered the secret to wearing pants with booties. Roll 'em up. Bye, bye super irritating bunching.

Welcome Fall

I'm definitely one of those crazy people that starts wearing their boots and breaking out the fall decor no matter what the weather is come September. It was still in the 80s when we visited the cider mill this weekend, but it was a lot of fun. We can't wait to go back later when the pumpkin patch is open.

Rider's Pants, Refashioned into Skinnies, $20

Stud Earrings c/o Daily Charms

Some days just call for a simple, classy look like this. It was easy to wear on a day of rainy thrifting, working, and a pile of phone calls.

Speaking of thrifting, have you guys ever checked out the sleepwear section of your local thrift store? There are some seriously gorgeous vintage nighties there! Beautiful lace, silky fabrics, lush colors. Nothing makes me feel quite so feminine as a lovely nightie. I got a few things for myself, a few things for the shop, and a new appreciation for that section of the thrift store.

Hope you're having a great Thursday!

A new thrift store opened in our town this week and I donned this fun outfit to check it out.  I picked up a couple pairs of shorts, and necklace, and a few adorable books for my nephew.  It's a great little shop, and even better yet, it's right next door to my favorite thrift store, Volunteers of America!  It's like my own little corner of thrifting heaven.

On a completely different note, how terrible is it that The Office is ending?! The series finale is this week and I am probably going to cry.  At least I still have Parks and Rec...

Hope you're having a fabulous Sunday!

Payless Flats, $5 (similar)

I love this outfit.  So much that I wore it twice last week.  This top is the perfect floral piece, and although it's modern, it looks vintage.  Also: it's super comfy.  Best top ever.

In other news, we are officially house hunting!!  Jeremy and I have been talking about buying our own home for over a year, and now that we're relatively settled in here with steady jobs, we've decided that it's time.  Also, our lease is up in 4 months, our neighbors are crazy, and I'm sick of the city.  So yeah...it's time. :-)

What exciting things have you been up to lately?

Last week I finally realized that I never finished watching the last season of my favorite show ever, House, MD.  We moved right in the middle of when it aired, so I only saw the first half.  I finally stuck it in our Netflix queue and am happily enjoying disc 1 while I write this post and listen to it thunderstorm.  And then I think I'm going to make myself a cup of tea.  Cause some week's it's the little things.

What little things have you been enjoying this week?

I came thisclose to returning this jacket.  I left the tags on for weeks, unable to find any way to style it that I really liked.  It wasn't until I paired it with this sweater last week that it felt right.  I think it may have a place in my closet yet.

I've spent the last few days cooking and reading.  It's been quite enjoyable and I'm feeling rather accomplished at the moment. :-)  Have you ever made your own tortillas?  It's so easy and so yummy!  I used this recipe and they turned out great.  My little kitchen victory of the week, right there.

Happy Sunday!

P.S. I wrote a guest post for The You Are Project yesterday! Be sure to check it out!

The internet told me that black and white would be a thing for summer, but I think it's a pretty great winter combo.  So chic, and it allows you to play with texture a bit more.

So I finally bought myself a new point and shoot camera.  I've been without one (at least one that takes semi-decent pictures) for almost 3 years now.  I love my DSLR, but having something I can easily throw in my purse is great.  I'm hoping it'll help me incorporate more lifestyle posts into the blog.  It also takes great video, so maybe I'll even take up vlogging! :-)

Happy Sunday.

P.S. If you're a Google Reader user like me, you're probably also mourning it's imminent death.  But no worries, you can continue to follow me on Bloglovin'! I made the switch myself a few days ago and it wasn't too painful. ;-)

But With You, I Know It's No Good

Top: Thrifted
Pants: Levis - Shopko, made skinny by me
Shoes: So - Kohl's
Scarf: Burlington Coat Factory
Earrings: Etsy

This seemed like a total mish-mash of color when I put it on.  I was doing a little internal "OH MY GOSH NOTHING MATCHES".  I liked it though, and I can see now that it was a good choice.

I'm a little bit proud of these pants.  I made them skinny using this tutorial on Everybody, Everywhere I saw a few weeks ago.  I'd been looking for a good pair of skinny black pants to buy, and when I saw this tutorial I immediately thought of these.  They were flair-legged, and getting absolutely no wear in their former state.  I also hemmed them, and they're SO much better now!

I think my husband likes these shoes.  Whenever I wear them, he likes to take a few extra pictures of them.

Today I got a long overdue cleaning at the dentist.  I have major dental anxiety, and haven't been in about 2 years.  Partly due to lack of insurance, partly because I'm just a wimp.  Anyway, I'm glad to say that I had a pretty good visit.  I have several tiny little cavities, almost all between my teeth (I'm a bad flosser :( ).  So I have to go back, but I won't be so nervous next time.  These people are awesome, I had the gentlest cleaning I've had since I was a kid, and they made me feel like a human being and not just a set of teeth.  Yay!

After that exciting experience, I got in a little grocery shopping, and we hit Panera for dinner.  I had a free pastry on my MyPanera card to redeem. :)  When I got home, I had an early birthday present sitting on our doorstep from my parents.  So all in all, it was a good Wednesday. :)
