D-Blog Week {What They Should Know}

Today's prompt asked us to write to the non-diabetics.  So here's what I wish you knew...

.My diabetes is not the same as your Grandma's diabetes.  Please don't try and compare or tell me your Grandma now has no arms or legs because of D.  It's not helpful.

.The fact that I take insulin does not make my diabetes "bad".  It just means I have type 1, not type 2.

.The "natural cure" you heard about on the radio will not cure me.  Your magical honey from Peru will not regenerate my beta cells.

.I really, really appreciate being treated like a normal human being.  Thank you for not making a big deal when you see me checking my blood sugar or spot my pump in my pocket.  It means a lot.

.I don't mind friendly questions when you see my pump either.  Just keep them friendly.

.I downplay my D a lot, but this is really serious.  We need a cure.  Never hesitate to get involved, we'll all thank you.
