D-Blog Week {Fantasy Diabetes Device}

What is my fantasy for diabetes devices?  Affordability.

There are so many great diabetes devices out there now, there's little I can imagine that I'd like (except a working pancreas. Tha'd be nice).  So what I really want is access to what's there.  I would love a Dexcom, a Omnipod, and a handful of other technology that's already on the market.  I don't have health insurance, but even when I did, I couldn't get those things covered.

I've had the same Minimed Paradigm insulin pump for the last 10 years.  I haven't been able to get insurance approval for anything else since then.  I would love to see that change.

  1. Thank you for a sincere post. I wish this, too. I have health insurance but I can only pay for the basics and even then I ration things like syringes. I do hope there are changes in this area soon.

  2. Yeah they really need to do more to get the existing devices into the right hands, good post.
