We are big on the coffee around here. Real big. One thing that bonded Jeremy and I almost instantly when we met was our mutual love for this caffeinated wonder. Almost every time we were together we went out for coffee. He even sent me gift cards for my favorite coffee shop while he was deployed. We love the stuff.
So believe me when I say that we've experimented with a lot of coffee recipes at home. While we stray now and then, we always come back to these 3. They're all easy to make, and can usually be put together at any time with what we have in the kitchen.
1. The Mocha Joe
Ingredients:
Freshly brewed black coffee
2-3 tablespoons of hot cocoa mix
Place the cocoa mix in the bottom of your favorite mug. Add the coffee and stir. Easy, easy, easy!
2. Iced
Ingredients
4 cups Ground coffee (use a strong, rich roast for best results)
6 cups Water
Grab a large container and mix ground coffee with water. Let sit anywhere from 12-24 hours depending on how strong you like it. Strain (cheesecloth is good, but I use my french press) and enjoy.
3. The Latte
Ingredients
1 mug freshly brewed black coffee
1 1/4 cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla creamer
1 tablespoon brown sugar or sweetener
In a small saucepan, combine milk, creamer, and brown sugar. Heat and continue stirring with a whisk until foamy. Pour mixture into your mug, holding back foam with whisk. Add coffee and place foam on top.
What are your favorite fancy coffees to make at home?
I like to do a skinny vanilla latte at home with putting a little skim milk, real vanilla and a packet of Stevia in my milk frother (best birthday gift my in-laws ever gave me!). I pour it in the mug first then add fresh-brewed strong coffee :)
ReplyDeleteI really need a milk frother! The whisk is a poor substitute.
