I thrifted this dress a little over a year ago, and I think I've only worn it a handful of times since then. Which is a shame, cause it's such a great little black dress. It's a great shape, plus it's sleeveless, making it a perfect blank canvas for all sorts of extras. I'll have to make a point of wearing it more over the summer.
Speaking of LBDs, have you ever heard of the One Dress Protest? I stumbled across this blog a few weeks ago, and it's a really interesting read! Kristy wore the same black dress every day for a year in protest of how our society views clothing and the consumer culture. She finished the project at the end of 2011, but be sure to click through and check out her archives.
P.S. Here's #2. Jeremy went into work early, plus I slept in the day I wore this, so a mirror photo is all I got.

ReplyDeleteI think I may have seen that one dress protest blog or something similar, certainly an interesting idea. Fashion is definately disposable these days, which isn't always a good thing. I have been trying to buy second hand where I can this year for ethical and economic purposes.
Inspired by your 15 x 15 challenge I have had a good clear out of the wardrobe. I often think that maybe buying better made, classic designs could be the way forward but can't resist the lure of the charity shop!
I don't have to wear a uniform for work, but have work stuff and non work stuff and since I have been reading blogs am thinking maybe I should mix it up a bit, coz effectively I am wearing a uniform!
That's great! I definitely think of thrift stores as being a more ethical buy. If you can buy quality pieces though, that is the way to go!

ReplyDeleteI've read about a similar dress project by a french girl that wore her old school uniform in 365 different ways. It was fun a fun challenge to follow, but hers ended a long time ago as well. I can't exactly remember what her blog was called though... x

DeleteCute, simple black dress and I really like the shorts in the second outfit. I did this thing called Dressember the last two years, and this year one of the ladies wore the same dress restyled in different ways for the whole month. I couldn't imagine for one year. Although, it would make getting dressed everyday pretty easy.
ReplyDeleteThat top is so cute. I actually remember a different one dress project from a few years ago. I wish I could remember the site, because it was great and she came up with some wonderful outfits. It was a cute dress with buttons that could be worn to the front or back.
