Happy New Year.

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope your year is off to a great start so far.  I have been doing a lot of hanging around at home with my husband, cooking, cleaning, and just enjoying each other's company.  My husband has been laid off and looking for more work for about a month now, so we are in major money saving mode.  Which means, we haven't been going out much.  Which means... I've been staying in sweatshirts all day more often than not.  Which means... not much blog fodder.

But alas! It's a new year, and I'd like to tell you a bit about my goals for it. :-)

I'm not one to set lofty resolutions.  Modest, achievable goals are the way to go as far as I'm concerned.  Here are my goals for the year:

  • Read the entire bible.  I picked out a chronological reading plan and am really excited about it!
  • Read 12 biographies (1/month).  I read a few biographies last year and not only learned a lot, but really enjoyed them.  (Also, I'd love your suggestions for good biographies!)
  • Crochet an afghan to give as a gift at the end of the year.  I've been wanting to do this for several years, but just haven't been able to muster up the motivation do to so.  I figure if I give myself an entire year, it might actually happen.
In addition to those, I'm trying to continue to eat healthy, exercise, take care of my diabetes, grow this blog, and create a organized working closet.

One of the goals we set as a couple this year was to do our budgeting a little differently.  We are going to use cash for our "fun" budgets (clothes, movies, eating out, etc).  It's waaaay too easy to go a bit over budget when you use a debit card for all of your purchases, and we're trying to crack down and actually stay on budget this year.  We have a few things we're trying to save for, so this is especially important to us us 2013.

What are you goals for this year?

  1. Just found your blog! Nice to find another fashion blogger with a Christian perspective! Love and Hate The Story of Henri Landwirth was a great biography. I had always been a little nervous about reading something about a Holocaust survivor but this kinda just fell into my lap, so I read it and it was really good!
