I picked up two plain white mugs from walmart for $1.50 each. I'm sure you could get some cheaper at the thrift store as well.
I tried a few different writing styles and sizes before I finally got the one I liked. The sharpie wipes off really easily with a wet rag so don't worry if you don't get it right the first time. :-)
Once you get it just right, stick them in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Your sharpie marks will now be permanent. :-)
The only downside of these is that they can't be washed in the dishwasher - this will take the writing off. So be sure to hand wash your cute new mugs!
Have you ever done this project?
So cute. I tried this too and learned the hard way that it is not dish washer safe. I like what you wrote, I couldn't figure out what to write on mine.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I didn't stick mine in the washer but read that on other's tutorials. Glad to learn from other's mistakes. ;-)
DeleteDarnit, I just realized your feed dropped itself from my reader again... I've been missing out on some really cute looks and projects from you the past few weeks. BTW, your handwriting on those mugs is pristine, I'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteGrr..My reader will randomly do that too and it drives me crazy!
DeleteAw, thank you! :-)
I'm not on pinterest (tried, hated it, gave up lol) and this is the first I've seen of this project and I love it! I love how the mugs are all cute and personal with your hot drink preferences :) I'm sure your husband loved them too!
