A few days later I was killing some time in Joann's and came across a the little square below and knew I had to make one of these.
I got all my materials at Joann Fabrics. A pack of 3 of these squares, the chain, and 50 jump rings cost me a whopping $3.99. I used a bit of lace trim I had lying around.
I started by cutting my lace to the right size. I then took out the little piece of plastic that was in the square, put the lace in, and put the plastic back on.
I then took my little jump ring and joined the square the the chain.
And there you have it! Your own romantic little necklace. :-) I think this is the easiest DIY I've ever done. It probably took me about 10 minutes to put together. Most of that time was spent forcing the plastic piece back on over the lace.
This would be such a great way to preserve a bit of your wedding dress. I plan on doing just that as soon as I can find mine again...

ReplyDeleteI didn't have lace in my wedding dress, but my mom had it in hers. The dress itself was damaged in storage, but the lace is good. The could be a nice keepsake for her and her daughters/granddaughters.... Thanks for the idea!
That's a great idea! I'm sure if you wanted to do it with a non-lace piece of fabric from your own dress it would look great too. :-)

ReplyDeleteYou crafty maven! And how awesome would it be to try glooping some resin or epoxy over the lace in the square to get the heftier, more substantial glass-like finish? Hey, you've got three, might as well try. If it works well you could try a little dried lavender or something in the third one.
