The Blues

Thrifted top; Target Scarf ($14); Old Navy Skirt ($15); Gap Flats ($15)

I bought this skirt shortly before we left NY, and haven't had a chance to wear it until now.  It's been just cold enough that skirts haven't been a good option!

When this month's EBEW challenge came up, I realized I have very, very little pastel in my closet.  So I decided to keep it simple with a light blue.  It counts, right?

I'm off to scour the aisles of Walmart for cheap leftover Easter candy.  Be sure to check out everyone else's pastels!

HAWMC - 10. Dear 16-year-old Me

Dear 16 year old me,

High school is overrated.  Don't worry about your classmates.  They're silly and immature, and won't be any further in life 5 years from now than they are today.  Don't let your teachers bother you either.  It's ok to be quiet.  It's rude of them to talk about you like you're not there, or you have no brain.

You are doing just fine.  You're beautiful and smart and don't need to worry about some boy never taking notice of you.  Listen to Mrs. Fix.  You are a good writer and artist.  Dig deeper, push yourself.  You can do it.

Think really hard about going to school for nursing.  Is that what you really want?  Don't let the fact that you have diabetes keep you from taking a risk.  God will take care of your health needs.

Be yourself.  Smile more.  Enjoy life.  Keep praying.  You'll get there. :)

Love,
Your 22 year old self

  1. Blue's my favorite color, so this outfit is a win in my book! Love the chevron stripes of the skirt too.

  2. Love the blue! I'm really trying to branch out into other colors but I'm really stuck on dark solid colors. You showed me I can still wear my favorite solid colors on top and start with a subtle switch on the bottom like stripes or layered skirts. Thanks.

  4. I love this post! I would also encourage my high school self to her interests and not be so scared of other people's opinions.

  5. My highschool selfwas, like most people were, way to focused on others and not on herself. Wish I could turn back time and do a few things over but that's what life is I guess. I love your new skirt! Chevron is always a good idea! x
