August 26, 2010 was the 19 month anniversary of our meeting. Jeremy and I got up bright and early to meet his sister several hours away. We spent a lovely day with her on Lake Michigan before dropping her back off and heading home.
By the time we were done, it was late and we hadn't eaten yet. Jeremy suggested we go through the McDonald's drive thru and get some dinner, and I agreed. We got our food and headed to a nearby park to eat. It was a cold, windy evening, and I just wanted to eat and go home. Jeremy however, had other plans.
After finishing our food, he suggested we take a walk around the park. I noticed him touch his coat pocket several times as if to make sure something was there. At this point, I was more than suspicious.
We eventually came to sit on bench on a pier jutting into the lake. The sun was setting, and despite the cold, it was a lovely evening. It didn't take but a few minutes for him to pull the ring out his pocket and pop the big question. I readily said yes. :)
We had a quick, 3 month engagement, and were married on November 26, 2010 in my parents winery in Michigan. It was a beautiful day that went by all too fast.
My mother made the lovely dress.
We've been married 10 months now, and although our unconventional love story has brought about some unexpected challenges, it's been an amazing growing experience. God has blessed us so much, and we look forward to many years together.
