Yummy Lotions: Not Diabetes Friendly

Last night I was getting ready for bed when I felt the high blood sugar monster creeping it.  I crawled into bed, reached for my favorite bath and body works white tea and ginger lotion, and tested.  The verdict? 277 mg/dl.

Grr.  Correction bolus delivered, I crawled under the covers to relax before testing again later.

Half hour passes, and I decided to test again.  277 mg/dl, once again.  Well, maybe the insulin needs more time. I wait another half hour and test yet again. This time, 300 mg/dl.  Umm...what?

This is when I realize that I had spread that lovely lotion all over my hands before commencing this series of tests.  I got up, washed my hands, and tested again.  266 mg/dl.  That's more like it.

So don't let B&BW fool you.  Test before indulging in their yummy lotions. :)
