Flying proved to be rather uneventful. We spent the night at the hotel airport the night before we flew out, which took the stress out of having to get up early and drive 2 hours before we even boarded a plane. I took off my pump and waltzed right through security like nobody's business. Same story on the way home. My backpack was subjected to a "random" swab of the outside, which turned up nothing, but that was as crazy as it got.
My blood sugars were pretty much a glucoaster the whole weekend. Friday was fine, Saturday was spent eating everything in sight trying to keep the bgs up, and Sunday through Monday I couldn't get them down. After a good night's sleep in my own bed on Monday night, Tuesday morning brought me nice shiny numbers again. Vacation stress...what can ya do?
Despite the crazy bg's, it was a great weekend. We hadn't seen my family in 5 months, so it was great to reconnect and spend some time with them, although it was short. We also got to meet our now 3 month old nephew for the first time, and my sister gave birth to our newest nephew on Monday morning! It will be July before we meet him, but I ooo'd and ahhh'd at pictures every chance I got during the trip home. :) Being an auntie is great.
My brother and parents.
So that's my weekend. How was yours?
