A Diabetes Meme

After a writing intensive DBlog week, here's a little meme to introduce myself a little better... :)

What type of diabetes do you have?
Type 1

When were you diagnosed?
November 30, 2001 (10 years this year!)

What's your current blood sugar?
119 mg/dl...that was about half an hour ago...

What kind of meter do you use?
A OneTouch Ultra Link.  Goes with my pump.

How many times a day do you test your blood sugar?
At least 5, more if high or low, or feeling bad.

What's a "high" number for you?
190ish.

What do you consider "low"?
I can feel it when I hit 80.

What's your favorite blood sugar reaction treater?
Peanut butter, crackers, and milk. :)  I've been trying to stick with the juice lately though...peanut butter is not diet friendly!  I'll use glucose tabs when I'm out.

Describe your dream endo.
Someone who would listen to me, who's with the latest technology, who's open to new management techniques.

What's your biggest diabetes achievement?
Getting this far.  I'm thankful for every day.

What's your biggest diabetes related fear?
That it's complications will eventually take my life.  I really hope I just get in a car accident or something.  Or better yet, die of old age. :)

Who's your support team?
My husband and my parents.

Do you think there will be a cure in your lifetime?
I don't have any idea.  I surely hope so, but I like to just focus on the "now".

What is a "cure" to you?
When I don't have to think about my blood sugars anymore, I will be cured.

The most annoying thing people say to you about diabetes?
"Your diabetes sounds really severe!" No...I just have type 1... :-/

What is the most common misconception about diabetes?
There's lots, and it's different everywhere, but the one I hate the most is that people seem to think I can get myself off insulin.

If you could say one thing to your pancreas, what would it be?
I hate you.
