I am type 1 diabetic. When I was diagnosed, I thought those with diabetes were old, fat, ate too much sugar and just generally didn't take care of themselves. I've learned a lot since then, and a lot of it is through Type 2 bloggers.
The type 2 bloggers I've read are usually not much, if any, of the above. They're people with a disease who are trying to take care of themselves, just like me. They're testing their blood sugars, taking their meds, visiting their doctors, and watching all those other lovely numbers, just like me. I've also come to appreciate that, like type 1s, sometimes there just isn't a reason for people to get type 2. That they're struggling with the same stereotypes as me.
I guess this post was supposed to be about our differences. But...I like the things we have in common more. :)
I was so happy to find your blog. My faith is the biggest part of who I am, too. I have a 7 year old daughter with T1D and I am always happy to hear how things are going with adult T1Ds. Thanks for writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Love your blog (had trouble commenting on it though)! it's great to connect with other Christians within the DOC! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect! It shows how our differences are not a different as we think.
